Carissa is a psychotherapist who is excited to be interning at Hardy & Stephens Counseling Associates. She is working on achieving a Master of Counseling degree from Crown College and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a double major in Bible from Northwestern College in St. Paul.
Carissa primarily uses a cognitive-behavioral approach, but also integrates elements of many approaches including solution-focused, narrative, art, and even play therapy into her counseling. Because of the difference Christ has made in her life she is happy to utilize a faith-based approach for any clients that prefer it. She believes that everyone should live in freedom and, whether through faith integration or not, desires to help her clients break free of any chains built of lies, guilt, or shame they may carry. Carissa feels privileged to be able to offer her services free of charge to those without insurance or without the ability to pay for services.
Carissa has been married for 5 years. She enjoys quilting, board games, and household projects with her husband. However, her all-time favorite hobby is giggling and playing with her daughter.
Carissa sees clients ages 5 and up through adult
